I started this blog in 2008 in order to follow the viral marketing campaign surrounding the Fall Out Boy album, Folie A Deux. Lake Effect Kid was the title of a song they released on a mixtape to promote the album. I used it, for want of a better name, as my blog title and it stuck.
Because it was my internet moniker, Lake Effect Kid became the name of my apparel line when it first started, but as the company grew, the name no longer fit (and you can read more about that here).
So, while it started as a random song lyric from a favourite band, I have come to identify with the name Lake Effect Kid and the lyric “Forever a Lake Effect Kid” has come to make me think of LNK’s humble beginnings. It will always remind me of when I was 19 and posting designs on the internet, and how shocked I was when people wanted me to put them on tshirts so they could buy them.
